McManus Camp
Hunt 3 2022
The final hunt of the season at the McManus camp was hunted by four veteran guests to the ranch. Darl Hospelhorn from PA was on his 18th season, Ed Miller also from PA his 14th, Bill Wurfel of NJ his 12th and Bill Kerr also of NJ his 3rd.
The first evening hunt out the guys all held out and passed on good bucks, but the next morning Ed Miller spotted a nice ten point he watched the previous evening. The buck came in and out twice before stopping at a scrape. Ed didn't hesitate to drop him in his tracks. The buck measured 14 1/2" wide.
Bill Wurfel also tagged a buck this morning hunt. It was a nice ten point that was 14 3/4" wide. Bill made a fantastic shot with his muzzleloader Ole' Betsy that he has been hunting with for ten years. This is the last year he will be hunting with the ole' gal, so he will be putting her in retirement.
Darl Hospelhorn was able to hold off for a bit and made the decision on a real nice eight point that was 15 1/2" wide on the third day. The buck was checking all the does and scrapes and that bought him a one way ticket to greener pastures.
Bill Kerr, who is Bill Wurfels Son in Law, had been watching a real big bodied buck, but unfortunately all but three of his tines were broke off, the buck was still the big shot chasing all the others off that ventured in. The big guy was working over a cedar tree preparing for another fight when a real nice eight point appeared. The eight point got the message loud and clear from big guy and started to move out and leave, but Bill was ready and wasn't going to lose the opportunity. As the buck was trotting off Bill was able to make a good shot on him. He was a 15" eight point.
Well folks, That brings us to the conclusion of the season at the McManus Camp. Thank you to Beaver and Leslyn for always putting on a great experience for their guests. Till Next Year!

Hunt 2 McManus 2022
This group of hunters all hail from Florida, The Rice Family and Kinfolk. The Rice's have made this a family tradition and have been making the trip to Mcmanus Camp for many seasons. The weather was getting colder and uncomfortable. But that didn't stop the hunting, Johny wnidsor of Dade City, Fl was the first to fill his buck tag with a nice eight point that was 16 4/8" wide. Johny also taged a doe. The remaining three were watching and waiting for their perfect bucks, waiting for the 'butter to be melted'. It was the last Morning hunt that Ed Rice harvested a nice 11 point, 5 on one side with six on the other, the G2 having a fork. A real pretty 15" wide buck. Winston Rice also tagged his buck on the last morning. A nine point that was 13 4/8" wide that had nice length tines. Winston also harvested a doe with a pistol shot.
The final evening hunt had arived and Kelly Rice had not yet tagged a deer. The evening was coming to an end and Kelly was packing up his gear when out came this awesome 11 point buck. Wasting no time Kelly put him down with a nice shot. The buck was 19 4/8" wide, it would have had 12 points but had a recent break off the main beam of a kicker. Nice Buck!
