We don’t like the high cost of hunting any more than you do. We keep our prices as low as possible. But we have chosen quality hunting – both for deer and turkey – over volume. When ranches are lightly hunted, guess what? We have to charge a bit more. But lightly hunted, carefully managed ranches consistently out produce the more heavily hunted places.
Consider Outfitter A and Outfitter B. Both operate on identical properties. Outfitter B puts twice the hunters on his land as does Outfitter A. So which is likely to have the lower price? Which is likely to have the best hunting? Quality hunting can never be cheap. Never has been, never will be.
When comparing hunt prices, please don’t forget to take a look at the services offered by the outfitter. Most outfits include lodging and meals. We do, too – comfortable lodging and scrumptious food in abundance. Is meat care included in the price? Our butchering and meat care is second-to-none – wrapped and frozen for your trip home. Is airport-pickup included in the price? Fly into or out of San Angelo, TX at any time of the day or night and we will arrange transportation to/from camp or a motel. No need to rent a car. We can and do offer a lower price when hunters stay in a motel and provide their own transportation and meals.
What about guiding? Our Adobe Lodge guides are mature, responsible, and serious about their work. Our training program focuses their attention on your having a great time – and a safe time – hunting with us. Most of our guides have been with us at least five-ten years. They guide for the fun of it, not the money. Most are retired.
Then there are the other amenities we provide – all free of charge. Need a box to take your trophy home on the airplane? We have them on hand. What about duct tape? We have it. Want to ship by UPS? We receive and ship out these packages regularly. You get a headache? – we have aspirin. Need something from town? Just mention it to the cook and he’ll pick it up on his next trip.
This kind of V.I.P. service and treatment comes from our policy of providing First Class Service to the most important people we will ever meet – our customers. In the outfitting business, customers are hard to come by. We go all-out to take care of ours.
So what about price? Could we sell our hunts for less money? Sure we could. But we’d have to adopt a completely different harvest formula and we’d have to reduce services. We have chosen (1.) light hunting pressure and (2.) super services. Ours is a quality hunt and we intend to keep it that way.
